My name is Katarzyna Tymek and I have been a licensed city guide since 2009. I organise and guide tours of Poznan and the Piast Route – the kind of tours I would like to take part in myself. I want a walk around the city with me to be a pleasure and for my guests to remember the images and stories of the tour. I love anecdotes – they are the ones to remember. I try to tailor the content and programme of the tour to specific groups and people – something different will be heard from me by a school group and something different by company employees on a team-building walk.

Porta Posnania

Porta Posnania

Porta Posnania (“Gate of Poznań”) is a modern center dedicated to cultural heritage, focusing on the early days of Mieszko I and the Polish state. It’s not quite a museum; you won’t find any old artifacts here. Instead, it offers a contemporary exhibition spread across four halls, featuring numerous films and visualizations that transport you back to past centuries, providing insights into the history of Cathedral Island. As you explore, an audio guide accompanies you, with visitors having the option to choose between two tracks: a general one and a family-friendly track available in multiple languages.

Porta Posnania is well worth a visit, especially if you prefer not to use the services of a traditional guide. It serves as an excellent introduction to exploring Cathedral Island on your own!
